Using NOVUS® technology, we can repair cracks from 2 to 10 inches and longer!
It’s possible you’ve been told a crack is not repairable. A chip you ignored might have spread, or the damage could have been instant. Whether it’s two or 10 inches long, or somewhere in between, a crack has always been a primary reason to get a windshield replaced.
That is, however, not true. Cracks, both short and long, can be repaired by filling the damage with a special resin. Our specially trained technicians use industry-leading NOVUS® technology to restore as much of the structural integrity of the windshield as possible. The priority of a repair is safety first, ensuring that the glass is strong enough to meet or exceed all regulations. With a repair, the windshield’s optical clarity is improved, restoring up to 85% of the original optics.
When looking into crack repair, there are several things to consider:
- Length/size of damage
- Exposure to elements
Bad weather can push debris into the crack, making it more difficult for a repair. Chemicals from windshield treatments or car washes can also linger, which can also complicate the repair process. If you do intend to pursue a repair, it’s important to get it looked at before the damage is too old, to minimize the chance of any contaminants sitting on the glass. If something has wedged itself in the crack, the resin will not sit proprerly.
Due to the amount of variables, it’s best to contact your closest branch and get the damage evaluated. Repair can potentially save you time and money on a replacement, but it may not be the right solution for you. If the windshield damage is on a certain area of the windshield, like in front of a sensor for anadvanced driver assistance system, it may be best to look at an alternative solution, like replacing the glass.
We are proud to offer NOVUS® Windshield Repair services in select branches.
